Dr. Tariq Ramadan

Dr. Tariq Ramadan was born in Switzerland in 1962. Through his several books and lectures in many different universities, he is considered as an original character within the Islamic philosophical community.

He holds an M.A. in Philosophy and French literature as well as a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies from the University of Geneva. In 1992-1993 he traveled in Egypt in order to deepen his research in Islamic Sciences. He was then appointed Dean of the Genovan College and currently teaches philosophy and Islamic sciences at the Universities of Geneva and Fribourg.

Tariq Ramadan is also the founder and President of the Association for promoting "Solidarity teaching attitude" (Coopération Coup de Main). He is involved in several development projects for solidarity in the Third World.

His original point of view about Islam is exposed in his numerous books. Tariq Ramadan regularly takes part in the debate on Islam in Europe and serves as expert in various committees linked to the European Parliament in Brussels.
